New MacBook Pro models with M5 processors will likely not appear before 2026. This was reported by insider and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
According to him, the high-performance M5 Pro and M5 Max will retain the underfill and molding packaging processes during production, which distinguishes them from the new A20 for the iPhone 18, which will receive integrated WMCM technology (Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module). This technology combines the pouring and molding stages, simplifying production and increasing the yield of usable chips from each silicon wafer.
The M5 laptops were previously expected to launch in late 2025. In July, Mark Gurman reported that Apple was "considering" postponing the launch, and new information from Kuo confirms this possibility.
The analyst also notes that after the M5, Apple plans to release models with M6 chips, which could get an OLED display, a thinner body and probably a smaller notch at the top of the screen. However, such MacBook Pros may not debut until early 2027, which means a longer update cycle for Apple's professional laptops.
